sample proportion (\hat p) = 412/1000 = 0.412

a) A 90% confidence level has significance level of 0.10 and critical value is, Za/2 = 1.645

The 90% confidence interval for p is,

0.412 + (1 -0.412) 10.412 + (1 -0.412) 0.412-1.645*1/ << p < 0.412+1.645*1/ 1000 1000

0.412 - 0.0256 <p < 0.412 + 0.0256

0.3864 <p < 0.4376

The 90% confidence interval is (0.3864, 0.4376)

b) We are 90% confident that the true proportion of all Canadians voting liberal is from 0.3864 to 0.4376.
