For the given atomic orbitals picture, the nl notation may be 1S 2S 2Px 2Py 2Pz (i.e Px, Py, Pz orbital must be filled with atleast one electron, so that the picture representation can exist)

There for for carbon (z=6) configuration can be written as (15-25-2P2P) all p orbitals may not possible, where as for N (z=7) (15-25-2P2P 2P!) , O(Z=8) (1922s22p2p 2p) this represens possibility of all three P orbitals.

For carbon the given representation may not be possible
