Common ion affects solubility of compound.
If we add compound to the solution contain one ion common , the solubility of compound decreases considerably. This effect is called as common ion effect.
Consider reaction, AgCl (s) Ag + (aq) + Cl - (aq)
Given solutions are NaCl, FeCl3, CaCl2,AgNO3 . All these solutions contains one common ion. Therefore, if we add AgCl to the above solutions, solubility of AgCl will decrease due to coomon ion effect.
In case of water. There is no any common ion present. Hence, solubility of AgCl will be larger in pure water.
