When it comes to representing ionic bonds, they are not represented with a bond (i.e. a line between two atoms) because a bond (in form of a line) represents a covalent bond.

Let's take an example of sodium chloride where the cation and anion are held together by an ionic bond, this can be represented as can be seen in the image given below:

Now take an example of a molecule which is held together by covalent bonds:
