Answer #1

b)

1 molecule of Ba(NO3)2 contains 6 oxygen atoms. Thus 1 mole of Ba(NO3)2 molecule contains 6 moles of oxygen.

In case of 8.18g of Ba(NO3)2,

Number of moles of Ba(NO3)2 = (8.18g) / (261.337g/mol) = 3.13 x 10-2

( Since Number of moles = Given mass/ Molecular mass)

We know, 1 mole of Ba(NO3)2 contains 6 moles of oxygen, so, 3.13 x 10-2 moles of Ba(NO3)2 contains =

(3.13 x 10-2) x 6 = 0.1878 moles of oxygen.

c)

Part B not given.

d)

Number of moles of Ba(NO3)2 = (7.3g) / (261.337g/mol) = 2.793 x 10-2

( Since Number of moles = Given mass/ Molecular mass)

Number of molecules of Ba(NO3)2 = (2.793 x 10-2) x (6.022 x 1023) = 1.682 x 1022

(Since Number of molecules = Number of moles x Avogadro's number)

Number of Oxygen atom in Ba(NO3)2 = (1.682 x 1022) x 6 = 1.0092 x 1023

(Since Number of Oxygen atom =  Number of molecules x 6(Atomicity of oxygen inBa(NO3)2 , ie, 1 molecule of Ba(NO3)2 contains 6 oxygen atoms)).
