Question

3. An ether solution of 1,1-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid (CDA), a compound with two carboxyl (CO2H) groups, was extracted with 10.0% NaHCO3 (aq) solution. Assume that the reaction between 1,1-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid and NaHCO3 (aq) goes to completion; i.e. the limiting reagent (CDA) is used up on both carboxyl groups. Please, provide a balanced chemical equation for the complete depronation of 1,1-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid by NaHCO3, in which both carboxyl groups react. Provide your answer as chemical structures and NOT molecular formulas for ALL reactants/reagents & products.

Experiment 8 Name: Double Replacement Reactions Background: Some reactions have the net effect of causing the cation of cach reactant to trade places, forming a compound with the other anion. These reactions are known as double replacement reactions. In the example below (unbalanced equation), the barium and sodium cations switch places so that barium forms a product with sulfate while sodium forms...

It's a weak acid strong base titration Experiment 4: Identification of an unknown acid by titration Page 2 of 15 Background In this experiment, you will use both qualitative and quantitative properties to determine an unknown acid's identity and concentration. To do this analysis, you will perform a titration of your unknown acid sample-specifically a potentiometric titration where you use a pH meter and record pH values during the titration, combined with a visual titration using a color indi- cator...

Exercise 2 Separation of a Mixture Based on Acid-Base Properties One purpose of this exercise is to learn how to use a separatory funnel to extract a single component away from other compounds in solution. To do so, we will apply the principles of solubility and acid-base behavior you’re seeing in class. One of the compounds is neutral in the acid-base sense. It has no ability to either donate or accept a proton from an aqueous solution, and will remain...
