a) observed rotation is +4.00 o, that shows compound a is more than compound B. Because the overall rotation is positive.

b)A little of compound A is more , as the observed optical rotation is very small(4) compared to that of pure enantiomer(100).

c)

optical purity =[+4 x100]/[+100] = 4%

4% optical purity means , 4% of pure A and the remaining is racemised.

In the racemic mixture , half is A and half is B , thus %A from racemic mixture = 96/2= 48% and %of B = 96/2=48%

Total A = 4 + 48 = 52% and %B = 48%

Thus the differenc ein % composition = 4 which is same as ee(optial purity)
