If there is Low supply of oxygen

1) glucose normally oxidises to to pyruvate and it follows normal aerobic respiration cycle so that further energy is generated,

But during low supply of oxygen glucose converts to to pyruvate and then to lactate in muscles this causes pain in muscle.

For next few minutes this process continues tell the time muscle contraction slowdowns hence preventing permanent damages to muscle and it's a defence mechanism by body.
