Empirical formula tells us just the proportions of the elements that are present in the chemical

It does not tell is about the exact no of elements for the compoud

For example

C₄H₈ is molecular formula but it's empirical formula will only tell us about the proportions of the carbon and hydrogen

So it's empirical formula will be

CH₂
