Density = Mass / Volume

In our case, we are provided with mass of different items along with volume of water displaced by them, i.e. Volume of the Item.

Substances with greater density tha water, sinks in water while Substances with lesser density than water, floats over ther surface of water.

Therefore, Desities of the given items can be calculated as

1. Density of Wood = 13.30g/15.6mL = 0.852 g/mL

Density of wood is less than density of water, so it floats over water surface

2. Density of Aluminium = 5.6g/1.1mL = 5.091 g/mL

Density of Aluminum is more than density of water, so it Sinks in water.

3. Density of Plastic = 4.0g/4.1mL = 0.976 g/mL

Density of plastice is less than density of water, so it floats over water surface

4. Density of Lead = 20.0g/1.8mL = 11.111 g/mL

Density of Lead is more than density of water, so it sinks in water

5. Density of Cork = 4.0g/8.1mL = 0.494 g/mL

Density of Cork is less than density of water, so it floats over water surface

6. Density of Steel = 8.30g/1.6mL = 5.188 g/mL

Density of Steel is more than density of water, so it sinks in water

7. Density of Clay = 15.60g/8.5mL = 1.835 g/mL

Density of Clay is more than density of water, so it sinks in water

8. Density of Rubber = 5.90g/4.9mL = 1.204 g/mL

Density of Rubber is more than density of water, so it sinks in water

9. Density of Candle = 10.4g/10.5mL = 0.990 g/mL

Density of Candle is less than density of water, so it floats over water surface
