Atomic Number - 4

electronic Configuration - 1S2 2S2

Position in periodic Table - Group no. 2 and Period 2

No. of electron in outer most shell is 2. it is belongs to Alkaline earth metal. valency of Alkaline earth metal is 2 because they have two electron in outermost shell, by removing these electron easily to gain nearest inert gas configuration.

In case of Beryllium after removing two electron it gain inert gas Electronic configuration like Helium which is stable Electronic Configuration.

Be (4) = 1S2 2S2

Be 2+ (2) = 1S2

He (2) = 1S2

Therefore third Ionization Energy is too much higher than the second Ionization energy.
