Answer #1

1. C. Test cross, a plant homozygous for the recessive allele , short stalks and green seeds (ttyy). Because if the plant is homozygous (TTYY) then there offsprings will be all tall and yellow. And if the plant is heterozygous (TtYy) then there offsprings will be mixer of tall and yellow plants, tall and green plants, short and yellow plants , short and green plants.

2. C. a character is a particular part or featute of a species and the feature of the charcter is the phenotype. For example, plant hight is a character and tall or dwarf is the phenotype.

3. D. Genotypic ratio is 1:2:1.

4. A 1:1 for monohybrid.

5. D. 2 different genes will randomly assort their alleleis during formation of haploid cells.

6. C. 6.25%

Mendel worked with pea plants that showed complete dominance for several traits. He was able to check his hypotheses about how inheritance works. He determined that traits are caused by two (? ) factors - one from the mother and one from the father. ?= form of allele that will mask the recessive ?= form of allele that will not show unless both alleles are recessive. ?= sections of a chromosome that code for proteins (and show up as traits)....

You have two families of true-breeding diploid Zea mays(maize, corn) plants. Late flowering, with tall stalks Early flowering, with short stalks A cross between these two plants yields F1 hybrids that are late flowering, with tall stalks. Given this information, which alleles are dominant? Explain your reasoning. Using the letters F or f for flowering and T or t for stalk height, indicate the genotypes of the two plants. Genes W, Y, Z assort independently and are dominant over their corresponding alleles w, y, z. You conduct an experiment where you set up a cross between two individuals heterozygous for each trait [Ww Yy Zz x Ww Yy Zz]. (a) What is the frequency of offspring resulting from the cross who are dominant homozygous--that is, whose genotype is [WW YY ZZ]?(b) What is the frequency of offspring whose phenotype is dominant for all three traits?
