the expected ratio is

purple flowers: white flowers = 3:1

there are 36 progenies

the expected number of plants with purple flowers= total number of plants \times ( number of expected plants with purple flowers/total number of plants)=36\times3/4= 27.

the expected number of plants with white flowers= total number of plants \times ( number of expected plants with white flowers/total number of plants)=36\times1/4= 9.

b) expected number of purple-flowered plants - observed number of plants with purple flowers=27-25=2

the observed number of white-flowered plants- expected number of purple-flowered plants= 11-9=2

so the difference between expected and observed purple-flowered plants=2

difference between expected and observed white-flowered plants=2
