Correct choice is a) more surface area for increased nutrient intake.

Usually large cells such as virus, bacteria, cell debris etc are engulfed by phagocytosis, as they cant enter through small channels or pores.

More surface area help for increased nutrient intake.

But there is a controversy in the question. This is because if the phagocytosed cell is too large for phagocytosing cell it cant engulf the first one.
