Answer #1

To answer this question first lets understand the concept In cold weather cellular membrane have high amount of unsaturated fatty acid

when temperature is low cell membrane should not be rigid it must maintain Fluidity

To maintain fluidity it cantain more unsaturated fatty acid because as unsaturated fatty acid contain kinks which decrease attraction force between them and hence increase fluidity

So now for the given question in blank A Fat will come

And in blank b Palmitoic will come which has 16:1 cis bond

Hence answer is A = Fat

B = Palmitoic acid with 16:1 cis bond

Humans and warm-blooded animals maintain a constant body temperature, which is typically higher than their environment. A. Estimate the maximum efficiency of a thermodynamic engine that is powered by this temperature difference in moderate climate conditions (the living organism is the hot reservoir and the environment is the cold reservoir). Take the temperature of the human body about 37∘C and assume a temperature of 8 ∘C for the environment. B. Determine the output power of such an engine if the...

    3. 18 points] Warm-blooded animals use large quantities of energy to maintain body temperature because of heat loss through the body surface. In fact, biologists believe that the primary energy drain on a resting warm-blooded energy available is proportional to the blood flow through the lungs, which is circulated, trhe amount of available energy will equal the amount of energy weights of some mammals to their heart rate in beats per minute. Based on weight. Discuss the assumptions of your...

(33%) Problem 3: Warm blooded animals are homeothermic that is, they maintain an approximately constant body temperature. (For humans it's about 37°C.) When they are in an environment that is below their optimum temperature, they use energy derived from chemical reactions within their bodies to warm them up. One of the ways that animals lose energy to their environment is through radiation. Every object emits electromagnetic radiation that depends on its temperature. For very hot objects like the sun, that...

FILL THE BLANK The membranes of fishes that live in extreme cold have a high proportion of _________________ hydrocarbon tails, enabling them to stay fluid. For example, cold-adapted organisms such as winter wheat increase the percentage of _________________ phospholipids in their membranes in the autumn to prevent the membranes from solidifying during winter. There are two major populations of membrane proteins: ___________ and _____________.Integral proteins penetrate the hydrophobic interior of the lipid bilayer, usually completely spanning the membrane as ________________ proteins.________________ proteins...
