Answer #1

A dependent variable is what you measure in the experiment and what is affected during the experiment. Here values of variable 2 is affected by values of variable1. Hence, variable 2 is dependent variable whereas variable 1 is independent variable.

Here, variable 2 is countable and take finite values, hence by definition it is discrete variable. Here variable 1 has no numerical value, hence it is a nominal variable(A variable with values which have no numerical value, such as gender or occupation.)Hence the variables here are discrete/nominal.

A contingency test can be used here to test whether or not a relationship exists between variables Let us consider the options individually.

Only option 3 contains the phrases that match with description of the graph given above, hence it is the right answer.

Option 1 is wrong because you cannot use a univariate test here because two variables are involved here. Univariate test can be applied when one variable is tested.

Option 2 is wrong because variables here are not continuous but discrete/nominal.

Option 4 is wrong because variables here are not continuous but discrete/nominal.
