36. Fatty acid

Phospholipids are structural unit of plasma membrane. They are made up phosphate group, glycerol and fatty acid. Glycerol and fatty acids are esterified to each other. Fatty acids can be saturated or unsaturated. The phosphate forms the hydrophilic head and fatty acids form the hydrophobic tail of the membrane.
