Genotype of heterozygous Tall with antenna = TtAa

Test cross = TtAa (tall-antennae) * ttaa (dwarf-no antennae)

Gametes of TtAa = TA, Ta, tA, ta

Gametes of ttaa = ta

Progeny: TtAa (Tall-antennae) , Ttaa (Tall-no antennae) , ttAa (dwarf-antennae) , ttaa (dwarf-no antennae)

Given figures in the question :

No of tall-antennae (TtAa) = 46 (Parental)

No of dwarf - no antennae (ttaa) = 42 (Parental)

No of tall - no antennae (Ttaa) = 5 (Recombinant)

No of dwarf-antennae (ttAa) = 7 (Recombinant)

Total offspring = 46 + 42 + 5 + 7 = 100

Recombinant frequency = recombinat offspring / total offspring

= ( 5+7) / 100 = 0.12 = 12%

Experiment 2 :

Genotype of heterozygous antannae-upturned snout = AaSs

Test cross : AaSs (antennae-upturned snout) * aass (no antennae-downturned snout)

Gametes of AaSs = AS, As, aS, as

Gametes of aass = as

Progeny : AaSs, Aass, aaSs, aass

Given figures:

AaSs (antennae-upturned snout) = 47 (parental)

Aass (antennae-downturned snout) = 2 (recombinant)

aaSs (no anntennae-upturned snout) = 3 (recombinant)

aass (no antennae-downturned snout) = 48 (parental)

Total offspring = 47+2+3+48 = 100

Recombinant frequency = recombinant offspring / total offspring

= (2+3) / 100 = 0.05 = 5%

Recombinant frequency of first experiment is 12% and second experiment is 5%
