Give five in depth, detailed reasons why C. elegans is included in the list of model organisms used widely in research and in developmental biology. In each of your answers describe a trait of the organism and how that is useful in research. At least one of these answers should be unique to C. elegans.

1. Transparency- C elegans are transparent and the changes in its body can be observed through simple microscope .

2. Short life span - They have a shorter life span , so several generations can be observed in a short time period .

3. High offspring number - They produce 1000 eggs per day , so we can effect and proportionate the effect of a particular drug on the organism.

4.Culture - The culture of C.elegans can be frozen and when needed ,it is defrosted and used .

5.Signalling pathways - They seems like simple organisms , but they have complex signalling pathways, just like humans , so they are a good subject for studying the same.
