Answer #1

Answer: The following statements are true for Aschelminthes.

  • There is a fixed number of somatic cells at maturity.
  • Cell constancy is at the organ and organismal level.
  • Further adult growth is by cell enlargement.

Explanation: Phylum Aschelminthes has pseudocoelom as the body cavity. Generally the body cavity is triploblastic, bilaterally symmetrical and unsegmented. Body size is generally small.

Eutely is the phenomenon exhibited by many species of Aschelminthes. Eutely means invariant and genetically fixed number of cells. In these organisms, mitosis stops(adult growth is not by mitosis) after embryonic development and growth is observed only through increase in the size of the cell(cell enlargement)

Question 1 Which of the following statements is true? Promoter bashing can lead to increased DNA methylation. Methyl groups are removed from the DNA by DNA methyltransferase. ODNA methylation is directly passed on during meisos to all daughter cells. Monoallelic gene expression occurs when a mutation results in dominant gene expression. Patterns of DNA methylation are preserved in somatic cells following mitosis.
