Answer #1

Answer: Photophosphorylation is a process of photosynthesis, where ADP is phosphorylated to form ATP using energy from sun light. It is of two type, cyclic electron photophosphorylation and non-cyclic photophosphorylation.

The difference between cyclic electron photophosphorylation and non-cyclic photophosphorylation in given aspects are shown in the following table.

Aspects

Cyclic phosphorylation

Non-cyclic phosphorylation

a. Types of photosystems involved

It involves only Photosystem I (PS I)

It involves both Photosystem I (PS I) and Photosystem II (PSII)

b. Patterns of electron flow

Electrons flows in circular/Cyclic pattern

Electrons flows in non-cyclic pattern.

c. Type of energy produced

ATP

ATP and reducing coenzymes (NADPH)

d. Type of energy used

Sun light-Low light intensity

Sun light-High light intensity.

e. Water splitting

Water splitting does not occur.

Water splitting (Photolysis of water) occurs.
