1) DNA is transcribed to RNA, there are different types of RNAs like mRNA, rRNA, tRNA, snRNA, snoRNA etc among these the mRNA is translated to produce protein, that is mRNA carries the information for the protein synthesis from the DNA. so the answer is D) protein synthesis.

2) Pea plant has shorter life span, can be cultivated easily and it produces a large number of seeds so it is good for genetic studies, Mendel has no idea about DNA, but he proposed that traits are passed from parents to progeny as discrete units so the answer is C) traits are passed on from parent to offspring as discrete units.
