Answer #1

Answer:- Sweet potatoes are called root vegetables unlike normal potatoes, which are tubers. But the root is defined as a tuberous root. Sweet and normal potatoes grow under the soil, but in density, taste and quality they are very different.

The sweet potato plant is a spreading, creeping vine with lobed, heart shaped leaves and white or lavender flowers arranged in spirals. The plant has enlarged roots called tubers that serve as the plant's energy store. The tubers may vary in form, and may be in color red, yellow, brown, white, or purple.

Hold up the sweet potato with the narrow, rooting end pointing downward, and the wider end pointing upward. Insert four toothpicks, one on each side, into the flesh around the tuber centre. Move the dentures halfway, or until they feel solid.

It emerges with trailing, twisting stems from underground tuberous roots that can be as long as twenty feet (six metres). Leaves vary in form, thickness, and color but with purple markings are usually more or less heart-shaped and green.
