Answer #1

Briefly describe three factors that could alter the activity of an enzyme.

Answer - Following are the factors which affect or alter the activity of the enzyme-

  • pH- Extremely low and high pH in most cases, results in loss of activity of the enzyme. The pH at which the enzyme is most active is called optimum pH. Optimum pH is different for the different enzymes.
  • Temperature -At low pH enzymes get inactive and at high pH, proteins get denatured.
  • Enzyme concentration - Activity increases when more enzyme are present, but after a certain point, there is no effect. Once all the enzymes are bound to substrate then increasing the enzyme concentration will not have an effect on the rate of reaction.

Please give a thumbs up!!!!!!!! Ask any doubts regarding the above question in the comment section !!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!

Enzymes Temperature is an important factor that can regulate enzyme-mediated functions. Temperature is one of the tightly homeostatically controlled variables in the human body. What are the symptoms of loss of temperature control during a high fever? Explain why these symptoms occur based on enzyme function and cell signaling effects that are dependent on temperature. Based on Figure 1, explain how the temperature optimum of the activity of enzymes is expected to differ in organisms depending on where they live....
