Answer #1

Hydrogen peroxide is harmful to cells , hence it is immediately converted to less reactive water and oxygen by the enzyme Catalase.

catalase also protects the cell from oxidative damage by reactive oxygen species.s Enzyme 2H20 Catalase (Hydrogen peroxide) (substrate) ase, 2H2O + O₂ (water) (oxygen) (Products) cs Scanned with CamScanner

    4. Now consider the catalase catalyzed decomposition of hydrogen peroxide to water. The much needed catalyst. 2H202 + catalase → 2H2O + O2 + catalase a. [3] Assume the following mechanism: H2O2 + catalase = {H202-catalase} HIS 54 Inhibitor ASN 127 H2O2 + {H202-catalase} → catalase + 2H20 + O2 Oxygen When the pre-equilibrium approximation is used, the rate-law is: 41 dt Kegk2[H202]?[E]. The steady-state approximation gives a more general rate law. Derive the rate law using the SS approximation....

    The enzyme catalase catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. The following data are obtained regarding the rate of reaction as a function of substrate concentration using concentration of catalase equals to 3.5 x 10^–9 M : Analyzing the data using the Lineweaver-Burk plot: we calculated the S = 0.698 s , and I = 26.6 M^-1 s , Km for this enzyme is: [H202lo (M) Initial Rate (Ms1) 1.38 x 10-3 0.001 0.002 2.67 x 10-3 0.005 6.00 x 103...

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
