Give the names and habitats of three extreme halophiles.
Salinibacter ruber - Dead sea
Halococcus, Halorubrum - saltern crystalliser ponds
Artemia - Great Salt Lake
Chromohalobacter beijerinckii - brine and fermented food
Halophiles are organisms which live under high salt concentration. They are mainly prokaryotic archaebacteria and bacteria. But some are algae and fungus also. They have the ability to accumulate salt inside them against the concentration gradient and therefore can easily grow in salty environment
Please rate high.
75. The extreme halophiles form another archaeal group that is easily characterized due to their unusual habitat requirements. Where could you go to collect some extreme halophiles from the wild? The pigments of halophiles allow them to absorb light as a source of energy, but how is what they do different from what we normally think of as photosynthesis (as occurring with a plant or a cyanobacterium)?

Metabolic lipids ribosomal thermophiles halophiles transfer Bacteria Eukarya Archaea peptidoglycan Drag the text blocks below into their correct order. Archaea also possess adaptations to their metabolic pathways that allow them to live in extreme environments, such as areas with high levels of salt (_____________) or high temperatures (___________). Although they share many bacterial characteristics, members of the Domain Archaea are more closely related to Domain ____________ than to bacteria. Characteristics that define archaea, however, include the presence of a cell...

Give an example of an organism and its adaptation to an extreme environmental condition (for example, extreme cold, heat, low water or nutrient availability, disturbance to its habitat). For full credit, describe how the adaptation allows the organism to survive in those conditions.
