Answer #1

In this case, the double fertilization occurs when two sperm cells fertilize only one egg cell. One sperm will form the zygote while the other one will form the endosperm by fusing with the two polar nuclei. On the other hand, the alternation of generations consist in alternation of two stages, one sexually haploid and the second one an asexual diploid. In double fertilization, the haploid sexual is the main stage while in alternation of generations both haploid and diploid stages have importance.
