When studying population growth dynamics, when is it more appropriate to use a static life table rather than a cohort life table?
Life tables are of two types.
1. Static Life table: shows the current probability of death
2. Cohort life table: shows the probability of death over the course of their lifetime.
So when we need the mortality rate of a period of time (1-2 years) we prefer a static life table.
When we need an overall mortality rate of a population's entire lifetime, we use a cohort life table.

Know the difference between types of life table •Cohort •Static
How would a stochastic event lead to the extinction of population? What are the differences of the static and cohort method of estimating parameters of a life table? When would the net reproductive rate, reflect the geometric growth of a age structured population? What is a metapopulation and when would somoene model a population as such?
Stochastic Population Growth Model Next, we are going to monitor the population growth of an asexually reproducing single-celled organism, centinia lincolni (pennies). This Centina population has a mortality rate of 50% per year, but all individuals that survive the year divide to produce an additional individual. The very most basic growth model of a closed population is: N+ N-deaths births Rewritten to use rates instead of individuals, this equation becomes: N+ -N,S+N.BS where S is the probability of survival (0.5)...
14. What is the difference between generation time and the rate of population growth? 15. When using the logistic population growth model, what are the different causes of slow population growth at low population sizes versus high population sizes? 8. What are the patterns of survival with age in the three types of survivorship curves? 9. How would you describe the generation time of a population? 10. Given that white tailed deer give birth to fawns each spring, which population...
Describe cohort, static, and age distribution life tables. Which are most commonly used and why? How could life table data, in combination with a fecundity schedule, be used to determine the per capita rate of increase (r) of a population exhibiting iteroparity? You must describe, step by step, how you would take hypothetical data from a raw table of survivorship and age specific fertility rates to the per capita rate of increase.
10. When measuring population growth, what does negative growth mean? Positive growth? 11. When measuring population growth, what is meant by a stable population? Use an age structure diagram in your answer (You may hand draw the diagram with a ruler) 12. What are limiting factors? How do they affect carrying capacity? 9. what are homologous structures? Give a real world example or nomologous structures. 10. When measuring population growth, what does negative growth mean? Positive growth? 1.- L !...
Q7 You may need to use the appropriate appendix table or technology to answer this question. The Food Marketing Institute shows that 17% of households spend more than $100 per week on groceries. Assume the population proportion is p = 0.17 and a sample of 500 households will be selected from the population. You may need to use the appropriate appendix table or technology to answer this question. The Food Marketing Institute shows that 17% of households spend more than...
Because of the dynamics of the workforce, for example, whether workers become discouraged when there are changes in the economy: a. the unemployment rate is not necessarily an accurate gauge of the labor market b. the unemployment rate is a precise gauge of the labor market c. one should only consider the employment population ratio rather than the unemployment rate d. at times the labor demand curve is upward sloping e. None of these answers are correct.
In 2 Use the formula t= that gives the time for a population, with a growth rate k, to double, to answer the following questions. The growth model A=70.0071 describes the population, A. of a country in millions, tyears after 2003. a. What is the country's growth rate? The half-life of a certain tranquilizer in the bloodstream is 38 hours. How long will it take for the drug to decay to 84% of the original dosage? Use the exponential decay...
