In a diploid cell there is a set of homologous chromosomes present, one from each parent. So if an organism has N number of  unique chromosomes, his diploid cell will have N+N or 2N( one from the father and one from the mother) number of chromosomes.

So as this animal has 16 unique chromosomes his diploid cell will have

2x16 = 32 chromosomes
