a. PCR primers are use to provide a "free" 3'-OH to which DNA polymerase can start adding dNTPs.

b. The role of DNA polymerase in PCR is same as in DNA replication which is to add nucleotides according to template strand.

The name of the specific DNA polymerase in PCR is Taq polymerase.

Taq polymerase is used in DNA replication because it can withstand the high temperature of PCR procedure.

c. Nucleotides are the units of nucleic acid, DNA and RNA.

The polymerization of nucleotides can form new DNA strand. The nucleotide Tri-Phosphate can supply energy for the polymerization process.

d. The overall goal of the PCR is to produce huge number of DNA (gene) copy in vitro which is known as gene cloning.
