Answer #1

Let "S" be dominant trait for short fur and "s" be the recessive trait in cats.

Male is always homozygous (ss) in order to expressive recessive trait, long fur. Female is heterozygous, because her father is long furred recessive.

. If the female is heterozygous (Ss), the chance of forming long furred offsprings are of 50%.

The cross between homozygous (ss) male cat and heterozygous female cat (Ss) are illustrated in below Punnett square.

5 shoot shool Slobo 50% of the offsprings are short furred and sof, offsprings are long furred

From this it is clear that, out of the 4 possible outcomes or offsprings, 2 will result in short hair, and 2 in long hair cats. So, the chance of getting long furred cats are 50%. And the proportion of forming long furred cats are 1/2.
