CoA-SH/Acetyl-S-CoA and NAD+/NADH + H+ full names of these two coenzymes and what are the chemical groups that are active in these molecules
Hello,
CoA-SH/Acetyl-S-CoA is basically Coenzyme A/Acetyl Coenzyme A and the full name of NAD+/NADH +H+ is Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. Both CoA-SH and NAD are coenzymes.Thiol group which is present at the end is the active chemical group in CoA,it is bonded to acyl group with a thioester bond.Nicotinamide group in NAD+/NADH + H+ acts as hydrogen acceptor of hydrogen and electron and in this way it is involved in reduction and oxidation of NAD that is required to carry out many cellular reactions.
Hope this helps.
