Natural selection favors only beneficial characters.Beneficial in the sense of survival and reproduction.one trait that is good for a particular environment may not be same for another environment.Natural selection only occurs if reproduction, heredity, variation in physical characters, variation in number of offspring per individual.It is most important in heritable traits because this directly involved in evolution.
