Answer #1

This phase of Mitosis is Prophase.

Two processes are-

1) Chromosomal material condenses to form compact mitotic chromosomes. Chromosomes are seen to be composed of two chattached together at the centromere.

2) Centrosome which had undergone duplication during interphase, begins to move towards opposite poles of the cell. Each centrosome radiates out microtubules called asters. The two asters together with spindle fibres forms mitotic apparatus.

Cells at the end of prophase, when viewed under the microscope, do not show golgi complexes, endoplasmic reticulum, nucleolus and the nuclear envelope.

Question 1 Which phase of mitosis is the cell below in? Telophase Prophase Metaphase AnaphaseQuestion 2 A cell in telophase would be defined by which of the following characteristics? The nuclear envelop is breaking down so that the mitotic spindles can attach to the sister chromatids. The actin cytoskeleton is constricting the cell membrane, separating the the daughter cells from each other. The mitotic spindles have attached to kinetochores and moved the sister chromatids into the center of the cell. Two nuclear envelops are forming, one around each set of...

The picture below represents a cell during metaphase of mitosis. The chromosomes are represented in red and the mitotic spindle is represented in green. BO ! A. The cell is stuck in metaphase because a checkpoint has been activated. Why was the checkpoint triggered? B. What could have happened to this cell without this checkpoint? There are three main checkpoints during the cell cycle. One checkpoint occurs at the end of G1 phase and involves the protein p53. If p53...

During the M-phase (Mitosis), spindle fibers extend from centrioles in the poles of the cell and attach to the centromeres of each replicated chromosome. The chromosomes are aligned along the equatorial plate of the cell in the process. Once all centromeres got attached from either side to a spindle fibre, a cellular checkpoint got passed and the spindle fibers begin to contract towards the poles, pulling the two sister chromatids apart such that one sister chromatid of each of the...

The life span (in thousand hours) of picture tubes manufactured by a company can be modeled using exponential distribution. On a survey it has been found that there were two types of processes by which the picture tubes can be manufactured. If type I has been adopted, the expected life span would be 700 (in thousand hours) whereas the expected lifespan of picture tubes by using the second type would be 1050 hours. Type Il is twice as costly as...
