2. Typhoid fever : Caused by the bacterium, Salmonella typhi. Transmitted by contaminated food or water. Symptoms : poor appetite, diarrhea, haed ache, fever, lethargy.
3. Cholera : Caused by the bacteria, Vibrio cholerae. Symptoms: Watery diarrhea, rice water stool, vomiting, dry mouth.
4. Gastroenteritis is mainly caused by viruses like Norovirus, Sapovirus and Rotavirus. But bacteria like Campylobacter and E.coli, some fungi or parasites may also cause it. Symptoms: Infectious diarrhea, nausia, vomiting.
5. Stomach ulcers: Caused by a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori. These bacteria cause ulcers in the lining of stomach a long time after infection.
