Junction fold - The thickened portion of muscle plasma membrane (sarcolemma) that is folded to form depressions.

Synaptic cleft- Space between neurons or a neuron and a muscle cell membrane across which a nerve impulse is transmitted by a neurotransmitter

Calcium channels- allow influx of Ca ions which help in releasing neurotransmitters.

Muscle fiber- the muscle to which the signal is sent

Acetylcholine- Chemical that motor neurons of the nervous system release in order to activate muscles.

Ligand channels - The receptor of acetylcholine in muscle fibers

Motor neuron - nerve cell which carries signals to muscle cell.

Synaptic vesicles - stores various neurotransmitters that are released at the synapse. The release is regulated by a voltage dependent Calcium channels.

Arrival of nerve impulse - Nerve impulses , coming because of electrical changes in the nerve membrane , which causes release of neurotransmitters into synaptic cleft.
