Viewing Onion Epidermal Cells 1. With a scalpel, strip a small, thin transparent layer of cells from the inside of a fresh onion 2. Place it gently on a clean glass microscope slide and add a drop of iodine staining solution 3. Cover with a glass coversclip and observe. Reduce the light source by closing the diaphragm 4. Draw a number of the cells to scale (at low power - 100X) in the space provided below. 5. Locate the nucleus and cell wall.
