Organelles
Organelles are "organs"within cell, having specialized functions. These are enclosed in a membrane. Cell organelles generally are found in eukaryotes. Mitochondria, ribosomes, golgi apparatus, lysosome are some cell organelles having function of making energy, protein synthesis, packaging of substances, digesting cellular wastes respectively.
parts cells- a membrane enclosed structure with a specialized function within a eukaryotic cell
Describe the structure, composition, function and importance of the major prokaryotic and eukaryotic structures below. Structures common to all cells: Cell wall Cell membrane Cytoplasm Ribosome Nucleus/nucleoid region (genome) Flagella Structures unique to prokaryotic cells: Endospore Pilus Capsule plasmid Structures unique to eukaryotic cells: Mitochondria Chloroplast Vesicle Cytoskeleton
Bacterial cells, such as E. coli, are surrounded by a fluid plasma membrane and enclosed by a rigid cell wall that protects the cell from damage. You will recall that there is no nuclear envelope in prokaryotic cells, but rather a “nucleoid region” with a single chromosome that is continuous (circular), not linear, as in eukaryotes. All of the genes required for basic survival and reproduction are found in the main chromosome. In addition to the main chromosomes, some DNA...
draw assignment- Draw a picture of a eukaryotic and a prokaryotic cell. 1. Make sure to show relative size difference between the two cells by either labeling size or drawing a size difference. 2. Label the figures to show structures like the plasma membrane, mitochondria, chloroplast, ER, golgi and the nucleus (where relevant). 3. In the eukaryotic cell Show one location where you can find each of the following: lipids, nucleic acids, proteins and carbohydrates. 4. Now draw a neuron (a...

8. While many prokaryotic cells have a single membrane bilayer, all eukaryotic cells have a complex system of internal membrane-bound compartments. How might it be advantageous for the cell to have these additional compartments?
Chloroplasts in a eukaryotic cell have both an inner and outer membrane. The inner membrane of chloroplasts is similar to: C The membrane of an ancient organism that absorbed other organisms lic111 The membrane of an ancient prokaryotic organism that could perform photosynthesis The inner membrane of the mitochondria in that cell The membrane surrounding the whole eukaryotic cell
4. Development of organelles Aa Aa 3 Modern eukaryotic cells are very complex and have many features that allow them to function efficiently. These complexities took a very, very long time to evolve and likely progressed as a series of small improvements that were naturally selected. For example, modern eukaryotic cells have internal membranes surrounding their organelles and the nucleus. This arrangement likely arose when the cellular membranes of some ancient bacterial cells accidentally folded to become internal membranes. Which...
