Answer #1

1 ANS:-b) The use of anabolic steroids can lead to testicular atrophy.

e) The Swilling of a testicle, such as caused by a sexually transmitted infection can cause sterility.

anabolic steroids or estrogen supplements can cause Testicular atrophy which refers to the shrinking of testicles, which are the two male reproductive glands located in the scrotum. The scrotum’s main function is to regulate the temperature around the testicles, which it does by shrinking in response to cold temperatures and relaxing in response to warmer temperatures. This can make it feel like your testicles are larger or smaller than usual sometimes.

Testicular descent results from hormonal and mechanical influences that mediate migration through the abdominal wall and the inguinal canal to the scrotum. The process of descent begins between weeks 8 to 15 of gestation, accelerating from weeks 24 to 26.

2. ANS: -a) seminiferous tubules are where sperm cells are produced.

b) The Sertoli cell also is known as a nurse cell promotes development of sperm cells.

c) Tunica albuginea is the stretchable covering the scrotum.

e) epididymis located between vas deference and seminiferous tubules where sperm mature.

f) testes are connected to the inside of the body of the spermatic cord.

coiled tubules are known as the seminiferous tubules; the sperm cells are produced within the walls of the tubules. Within the walls of the tubules, also, are many randomly scattered cells, called Sertoli cells.

A Sertoli cell (a kind of sustentacular cell) is a "nurse" cell of the testicles that is part of a seminiferous tubule and helps in the process of spermatogenesis, the production of sperm.

The tunica albuginea is the fibrous covering of the testis. It is a dense blue-grey membrane, composed of bundles of white fibrous connective tissue, from which it derives its name albuginea, which interlaces in every direction.

The epididymis is a narrow, tightly-coiled tube connecting the rear of the testicles to the deferent duct (ductus deferens or vas deferens). The epididymis consists of three parts: head, body, and tail. The head of the epididymis is located on the superior pole of the testis. It stores sperm for maturation.

The spermatic cord is the cord-like structure in males formed by the vas deferens (ductus deferens) and surrounding tissue that runs from the deep inguinal ring down to each testicle.

3. ANS:-

a) & d)

At the end of the first meiotic division, each secondary spermatocyte contains 23 chromosomes. Each of these chromosomes consists of paired chromatids. Each secondary spermatocyte completes the second meiotic division without the replication of DNA and produces 2 spermatids each containing 23 chromosomes.

primary spermatocytes contain a diploid complement of chromosomes (46 chromosomes or 2N, where N is the number of haploid chromosomes), and they are the last germ cells to undergo DNA synthesis.

Spermatogenesis is initiated in the male testis with the beginning of puberty. This comprises the entire development of the spermatogonia (former primordial germ cells) up to sperm cells. The gonadal cords that are solid up till then in the juvenile testis develop a lumen with the start of puberty.

4. ANS:- b) & e)
