Answer #1

answers:

true or false

A - Photosynthesis involves an energy conversion, so there is a loss to entropy (disorder), most likely as heat

Ans: True

Explanation : A system which can perform energy exchange with the outside environment can decrease in entropy. Living organisms observe the energy so that they can decrease their entropy, it can be done by eating food or photosynthesis, etc. Some amount of energy is always wasted and some is released as heat, so we can say that there is overall increase in the entropy even when entropy decreases locally within an organism and as long as the energy is coming in from somewhere outside, it is not considered to be the violation of second law of thermodynamics.

B- The molecule which donates the necessary electron to the chlorophyll reaction center (PSII) is glucose.

ans: False

explanation:

Chlorophyll is donates the electrons. To replace the electron in the chlorophyll, a molecule of water is split. This splitting releases an electron and results in the formation of oxygen (O2) and hydrogen ions (H+) in the thylakoid space.

C-  The electron transport chain in cellular respiration is the least productive step for making ATP

ans: True

Explanation: the most important stage of cellular respiration when we see it from an energy point of view because it produces the most amount of ATP. It produces up to 34 molecules of ATP from the products of one glucose molecule, the citric acid cycle produces two, and glycolysis produces four ATP molecules but uses up two of them.
