Imagine you are an expectant parent.  You and your spouse are both heterozygous for both brown hair and blue eyes. You are hoping that you have a child that has blue eyes and brown hair, just like your mother.

Use your knowledge of genetics, create a Punnett Square for all possible combinations. Identify the likelihood that the child will be blue-eyed with brown hair. Identify the most likely outcome as well.

Could you please explain using Punnett squares? Thanks!! 9. In snapdragons, red flower color is incompletely dominant to white and the heterozygote is pink. Normal broad leaves is incompletely dominant to narrow grass-like ones, and the heterozygous is intermediate width. IF a red-flowered, broad-leaved plant is crossed with a white-flowered, narrow-leafed one, list genotypic and phenotypic ratios of the following: a) Fi generation b) F2 generation 10. In humans, the allele for brown eyes (B) is dominant to the allele...

What is the man's genotype? (hint: keep in mind that His mother had blonde hair, so this helps you figure out his genotype for hair color) Heterozygous C. QUESTION 1 Both of Molly’s parents have curly hair but Molly has straight hair, explain how you could use a Punnett square to illustrate how this is possible. Lali Estimate the phenotypes of potential offspring: 75% having brown fur and 25% of the offspring having white fur. Exercise 1: Understanding Alleles The chart below identifies the relationship between genotype and phenotype. You will use this chart to determine the characteristics of a puppy. Note: for simplicity all of the traits...

In Genetics lab, you decide to further investigate Drosophila eye color. In addition to studying the sepia gene (se), you decide to study the gene mahogany eyes (mo). Flies that are mo-/mo- have brown eyes. You wonder if a fly that is a double mutant for sepia and mahogany eyes would have very dark brown (almost black) eyes. Because se and mo are both on the third chromosome, you have to do a recombination. You look through a former labmate’s...

    16. So far we have been dealing with alleles found on autosomal chromosomes. These chromosomes contain all the genetic information that is not gender related. As a human, you have 44 autosomal chromosomes (22 pairs → 11 chromosomes from your Mom and 11 chromosomes from your Dad). You also contain a pair of sex chromosomes. These chromosomes contain all the genetic information related to your gender. If you are female, you received an X chromosome from your Mom and an...
