1. Hemophilia is a sex-linked recessive disorder. If a male hemophiliac has children with a woman who is homozygous normal (has no family history of the hemophilia trait), what percentage of his male children would be hemophiliac (so, ignore the females)
(a) 50% (1/2)
(b) 100% (2/2)
(c) 0% (0/2)
2. To perform a test cross, you cross an organism with a
a. homozygous dominant
b. homozygous recessive
c. heterozygote
1.-
The percentage is c = 0%
As stated the hemophiliac gen is sex-dependent, meaning it is
carried either in the x or y chromosome, since there are
hemophiliac girls we know the gen is in the X chromosome.
We also know that in reproduction the males provide either the Y chromosome for male descendants or the other X chromosome for female descendants and that the Female provides the X chromosome for either males or female descendants.
So in the case of the coupling of a male hemophiliac and a normal female the sons would not be carrying the hemophiliac gen as the mother provides the X chromosome.
But any girl would be a carrier
2.-
A test cross is performed whit :
b. homozygous recessive organism
A test cross is a way to find out the genotype of an individual because you are crossing it what a known genotype the resulting offspring can let you know the genotype of the individual.
if the unknown genotype gives an offspring whit the same characteristics as itself we could guess it is a homozygous dominant
if the unknown genotype gives an offspring whit the same characteristics as the homozygous recessive we could guess it is also a homozygous recessive
if instead the unkown genotype gives an ofspring whit mix characteristics e could guess it is a heterozygot
1. Hemophilia is a sex-linked recessive disorder. If a male hemophiliac has children with a woman...
Hemophilia is a sex-linked X-linked recessive trait. A homozygous normal woman marries a normal man whose brother has hemophilia. What are the chances of them having a hemophiliac son; hemophiliac daughter?
A woman with the recessive, X-linked disorder hemophilia has children with a male who is color-blind, also a recessive X-linked disorder. What is the probability that their children will have hemophilia and have normal vision? a. 0 b. 1/4 c. 1/2 d. 3/4 e. 1
In humans, hemophilia is a sex linked trait. Females can be normal, carriers, or have the disease. Males will either have the disease or not (but they won’t ever be carriers) X H X H = female, normal / X H Y = male, normal X H X h = female, carrier X h X h = female, hemophiliac / X h Y= male, hemophiliac Show the cross of a man who has hemophilia with a woman who is a carrier....
Type A hemophilia in dogs is a sex linked recessive disorder. Assume a mating between a normal female (but carrier of hemophilia) with a hemophiliac male What is the probability that dogs in a litter are born in the following order: normal male, normal female, hemophiliac female?
Hemophilia is a sex-linked recessive trait. If a hemophiliac male marries a carrier female, what percent of their daughters will have hemophilia? The gene for yellow body color in Drosophila is recessive and sex-linked. Its dominant allele b+ produces wild-type body color while the recessive allele, b- produces yellow body color in homozygous individuals. List the phenotypes and genotypes of the progeny from the following matings: a. yellow female x wild-type male b. wild-type (carrier) female x wild-type male c....
How to solve? Use the following information to answer question 19. Hemophilia Hemophilia is a sex-linked recessive trait. A male hemophiliac and phenotypically normal female have a daughter that is a hemophiliac. 1 19. a. Create a Punnett square that depicts the described parental cross. b. Explain why it is far more common for a male to be a hemophiliac than a female. ADLC | Biology 30
Hemophilia in humans is a recessive sex-linked trait. A man with hemophilia and a woman who does not have hemophilia have a daughter who does not have hemophilia. She then marries a man who does not have hemophilia. What is the probability that their first child will be a daughter with hemophilia? A daughter without hemophilia? A son with hemophilia? A son without hemophilia? If the couple has four sons, what is the probability that all four will be born...
6. Hemophilia is a sex-linked trait. A person with hemophilia is lacking certain proteins that are necessary for normal blood clotting. Hemophilia is caused by a recessive allele so use "XH” for normal and "Xh" for hemophilia. Since hemophilia is sex-linked, remember a woman will have two alleles (XX) but a man will have only one allele (XY). A woman who is heterozygous (a carrier) for hemophilia marries a normal man: a. What are the genotypes of the parents? b....
A certain type of hemophilia is X-linked recessive in humans. A woman has this disease and has children with a man who has normal blood clotting (no hemophilia). All their [ Select ] ["sons", "daughters", "children (regardless of their sex)"] will have hemophilia.
Genetic Problems 10. Hemophilia is a sex-linked disorder. A normal woman whose father was hemophiliac marries a man who is not homophiliae What percentage of their son would be would be expected to be hemophiliac? What percentage of their daughters word expected to be hemophiliacs? Again, show your work, using a Punnett Square 11. Given parents with the genotypes AaBbCcDdEe and AaBbccDdEe. what is the probability of them producing offspring with the genotype of AABCDE 12. In humans, widow's peak...
