1. Descri be the process of a bacterial transformation. Explain how scientists can make bacteria take up DNA in a laboratory setting. (15 pts.) 2. Genetic transformations are not limited to bacteria. There are real-world applications where scientists have taken genes from one organism and inserted them into another organism. Give an example of how a genetically modified organism (can be any organ- ism, you are not limited to bacteria) have been used to solve real-world issues. Describe the organisms...

Why do you think it is important for scientists to have a uniform set of units for measurements? In the past these were always linked to artifacts (like rods or bars of a given length for the meter) but more recently there has been a move to other methods to describe these units (for instance the distance traveled by light in a given period of time to delineate the meter). Why has this move been made?
Did Thorstein Veblen think that there were gluts or disequilibrium? Explain.
I think scientists are people who love solving mysteries. We all look at things and think "What's does that mean?" Scientists are people who investigate it. Explain now and why scientists make generalizations. Include all the following elements in a clearly organized manner in your essay (but probably not in the order listed): Distinguish carefully among the various categories af generalizations that scientists typically use. How are these generalizations similar and different? What are the major sources of our understanding about the universe? Is it true that good scientists work to prove their theories and promote them to become laws? Explain.
