Yes, type of symmetry suggested that the humans (vertebrates) are more closely related to the starfish(echinoderms). Human shows mirror or bilateral symmetry, on the other hand starfish shows pentaradial symmetry but they also shows bilateral  symmetry in larval stage. And molecular phylogenetic analysis provide stronger evidence for their similarity.
