Extracellular matrix (A) and (P) – both plants and animals consist of ECM.

A). Cellulose (CW)

Collagen (ECM) Fibronectin (ECM ) Integrin (ECM) Pectin (CW)

B). Integrins are the transmembrane protein that attaches the ECM to the cytoskeleton and this permits them to pass them from ECM to cells interior or exterior cells.

C). Integrins are primarily responsible for the attachment to the ECM. They work as linker between the ECM and actin cytoskeleton and regulates the adhesive activity of the integrin.
