Answer #1

As in diagram , we can see that fungi is close and is separated by just few characters while plants and algae are separated earlier based on thier characters and all those are closely related but fungi and animals separated themselves from plants in many characters and thus are closely associated.A simple way to understand(general) this is to analyse the distance between two groups where they are placed in these type of diagrams and as we can see the fungi are more closely related to animals than to any other group.

    20. Rere to the which shows the phylogenetic tree of major groups of living organisms. Based on the figure, which statement about the endosymbiotic origin of eukaryotic mitochondria is true? Some prokaryotic archaea possess mitochondria. Mitochondria are derived from endosymbiotic bacteria. Bacteria is more closely related to Eukarya than to Archaea. Mammals possess chloroplasts, which become functional during starvation. The common ancestor of Archaea and Eukarya possessed mitochondria.

assumptions that are employeu. 2. Chapter 28 -15 pts This micrograph (Chapter review, p. 615) shows a single-celled eukaryote, the ciliate Didinium (left) about to engulf a second ciliate, Paramecium, as its prey. Historically, Didinium and Parameciumn have been classified as protozoa since they are single-celled, heterotrophic eukaryotes. Identify the eukaryotic supergroup to which ciliates belong and describe the role of secondary endosymbiosis in the evolutionary history of this supergroup. Also, as a second part of the question, indicate whether...
