Answer #1

Precursor, Glutamic semialdehyde, Ornithine, Citrulline, Arginine

Mutant 1 grows only in the presence of arginine. It means arginine is the last molecule of the pathway. This is because the mutant is able to synthesise all the other molecules and therefore their presence is not affecting the growth of the mutant. But the mutant is growing solely in the presence of arginine, hence arginine will be the last molecule of the pathway.

Mutant 2 is growing in the presence of both are arginine and citrulline. And arginine is the last molecule of the pathway, so citrulline in will be the second last.

Mutant 4 is growing in the presence of arginine, citrulline and ornithine. So, ornithine will be the third last molecule. And the one which is left glutamic semialdehyde will be the second molecule of the pathway.

Precursor will always be the first moelcule.

Please rate high.

Four nutritional mutants in Neurospora will grow if arginine is added to minimal medium. Some of these mutants also will grow if other substrates chemically related to arginine are added to minimal medium. The growth patterns are show in the table (+ = growth and 0 = no growth). A. Wild-type bacteria can grow on minimal medium. Four mutants that cannot grow on minimal medium but can grow on minimal medium supplemented with the nutrient ā€œCā€ are isolated. It is suspected that metabolites A, B, and D are in the biochemical pathway for synthesis of C, so each mutant is tested for the ability to grow on minimal medium supplemented with these metabolites: Mutant 1: can grow on minimal medium supplemented with A, but not B or D Mutant 2:...

Wild-type bacteria can grow on minimal medium. Four mutants that cannot grow on minimal medium but can grow on minimal medium supplemented with the nutrient "H" are isolated. It is suspected that metabolites T, P, and A are in the biochemical pathway for synthesis of H, so each mutant is tested for the ability to grow on minimal medium supplemented with these metabolites: A. Mutant 1: can grow on minimal medium supplemented with T, but not P or A B....

Four auxotrophic mutant strains of E. coli (1, 2, 3, 4) are each blocked at a different step of the same metabolic pathway. This pathway involves compounds L, M, N, O, and P. Each of these compounds is tested for its ability to support growth of mutant strains, with the results given below. (+= growth, __ = no growth) Compound Used as a Supplement L M N O P Mutant 1 + __ + + __ Mutant 2 __ __...
