Answer #1

Let allele for long be L and for round be l

And for red color R and white color r

Parents Long White x Round Red

LLrr x llRR

F1 Progeny LlRr Oval Purple

So here it is incomplete dominance of Mendelian inheritance.

Here the offspring is neither similar to any of the parents.

In heterozygous genotype, both the characters that is dominant and recessive characters are partially expressed.

now, LlRr x LlRr

gametes LR Lr lR lr

LR Lr lR lr
LR LLRR LLRr LlRR LlRr
Lr LLRr LLrr LlRr Llrr
lR LlRR LlRr llRR llRr
lr LlRr Llrr llRr llrr

As here the incomplete dominance takes place

phenotypes can be as follows:

  • Long Red    (LLRR)    1
  • Long Purple    (LLRr)    2
  • Long White (LLrr)    1
  • Oval Red    (LlRR) 2
  • Oval Purple (LlRr) 4
  • Oval White    (Llrr) 2
  • Round Red    (llRR) 1
  • Round Purple (llRr)    2
  • Round White    (llrr) 1

Ratio of phenotype is 1:2:1:2:4:2:1:2:1

Thus this is similar to the cross done with radishes.

Hope you understood.

Please give thumbs up if you are satisfied with the answer.

Thank you
