Answer #1

The above question is from the kingdom Fungi. Both ascomycota and zygoomucota is the phylum of fungi.

Zygomycota or zygomycetes are the bread mould, Rhizopus stolonifer that develop on bread etc. Some species also grow on dead and decaying organic matter and some are parasite. This phylum has both sexual and asexual life cycle . It is also known as conjugate fungi as the mating takes place between + and - strains by forming a conjugation. The thallus of fungi is coenocytic hyphae and nuclei is haploid when it is vegetative phase. The form the sporangia during asexual reproductive cycle. When these spores fall on a particular substrate germinate and produce new mycelium. When condition become favourable the sexual reproduction starts. Two different strains + and - form a conjugation leading to karyogamy . The diplod zygospores formed that have thick coats to protect from harsh environment. When zygote germinate in favourable environment it undergoes meiosis and produce haploid spores that grow and become new organism.

Ascomycota or Ascomycetes know for the formation of ascospores formed on ascus. This fungi is used in baking , fermentation etc. . The reproduction involve the production of conidiophores that release haploid conidiophores. The reproduction begins with the development of hyphae from any one mating strain either + or -. .male strain produce antheridium and female strain produce ascogonium. When fertilization takes place both combine in plasmogamy with no nuclear fusion . Ascogenous hyphae arise in n which both nuclei migrate, one from male strain and other from female strain . In each ascus two or more ascospores fuse their nuclei in karyogamy . When sexual reproduction takes place thousands of Asci make a fruiting body known as ascocarp. Meiosis takes place to convert diploid nucleus to haploid nucleus. These ascospores release and then germinate and form hyphae that disseminate to form new mycelia.
