Come up with a real-world analogy that I can use to teach middle/high school students about function of "Poly A binding protein". Explain how this analogy is similar to "Poly A binding Protein" and give 5 different ways in which this analogy does NOT work the same as "Poly A binding protein". (ex: I can say that cash is similar as ATP)

Answer #1

After capping occurs, the growing mRNA has a poly-A tail added to it at the 3' end of the mRNA. Now there are various steps of the polyadenylation mechanism among which there is the Poly-A binding protein(PABP) that has a many roles in the polyadenylation as well as protection of the mRNA.

For example, Let's think that PABP is like a helmet. It protects the head of a soldier from bullets or any kind of external injury. In the same manner, binding of PABP to the end of a growing mRNA, protects the mRNA 3'end from degradation. But this analogy does not apply to the other function of PABP. For that, let's take another example. PABP is a protein that when binds to the mRNA tail end, helps the poly-A tail to recognize the binding site and then subsequently add the poly-A tails to the mRNA end. Just like a volunteer.Suppose a particular volunteer is standing at a end of a line which is providing a ticket to a match. If you are new to the place, the volunteer will guide you to the line and others and help them stand in line to collect the ticket. In the same manner, PABP guides the poly-A tails to the mRNA end and initiate polyadenylation.

A high-school teacher takes an afternoon to teach their class some basic ideas about probability. They do this by getting the students to toss coins (head or tails) and set up a tournament where the 32 students split into pairs and have a contest: the students in each pair toss a coin ten times and the winner is the student who tosses the most heads. Then the 16 students who were winners in the first round are again split into...

i need positive comment and agree with the statement at leat 100 words 3. How can you avoid the pitfalls of teacher-coach role conflict? First let me explain what a pitfall of teacher-coach role conflict is. When the coach says that we will run five miles every two days, in your mind you would want to drop from that. Instead of doing that the coach would come up with different fun ways to run and have us, as a team...

    (2) In some sports (such as volleyball when I was in high school - scoring rules have changed) you can only score a point when it is your serve, and losing when it is your serve does not give up a point but only gives up the serve to your opponent. Suppose your probability of scoring on your serve is p (and of losing the serve is 1 − p) while your opponent’s probability of scoring on their serve is...

Can you please give me some key take aways from this article? Growing up in Atlanta, I am familiar with the Parks Middle cheating scandal. I remember watching it on the news as a kid and not really understanding how and why these teachers and principals had done what they did. I think it would have been a very difficult situation to be a part of as a teacher, considering their leader was pressuring them to do something highly illegal....
